How do I order my dedicated server?
Ordering a server is easy using our Dedicated Server Configurator. Your server can normally be set up the next business day. You may also contact us or fill out the Contact Form and a sales representative will get in touch with you for a no-obligation consultation regarding your dedicated hosting requirements.

How do I pay?
DEDICATED4U accepts MasterCard and Visa. Your card will automatically be charged each month. For businesses that wish to use a company check, we can accept check payments from US banks, but this may delay setup of your server until after the check is received and processed. Wire transfers and verified PayPal accounts are also accepted for quarterly and annual payments.

Can I pay the Setup fee in installments?
Due to the high costs of hardware and installation, we must collect the setup fee and first month's fee before setting up your server. Unfortunately, we cannot space out setup fees over time.

Are there discounts for long-term commitments?
Pre-pay for 12 months and get FREE SETUP and your 11th and 12th Months FREE! Pre-paid plans can be cancelled with our standard 30 days notice, and the unused portion of the yearly fee will be refunded to you on a pro-rated basis, minus the applicable setup fee that would have been paid under our monthly terms. There are no refunds for violating our Acceptable Use Policy. There are no additional discounts for long-term commitments, but we hope you will be with us for a long time to come!

Are there volume discounts?
We offer FREE SETUP and generous discounts for volume purchases and for dedicated server resellers. For more information on bulk pricing, please see our section for Resellers.

Are there any hidden fees?
There are absolutely no hidden fees. We offer affordable yet powerful and full-featured products. There are additional managed services and options that we do offer on a fee basis, but they are purely optional.

Do I own the server?
No, you are paying to rent the server, for the included technical support, plus for the space, power, bandwidth, and Internet connectivity in our data center. Dedicated Servers are a cost-effective and convenient alternative to colocation (where you buy a server and rent space in a datacenter) or building your own datacenter facility since it would cost millions of dollars to achieve the reliability and network connectivity that DEDICATED4U delivers.

How long does it take for my server to get set up?
We can normally have your server set up within 24-72 hours after we process your order, and often even faster. If you have special needs or would like an exact estimate of installation time for a particular server, please contact us.

Do you offer custom dedicated server configurations?
Dedicated4u offers four packages in standard configurations, but you can use our Dedicated Server Configurator to completely customize each server to your specifications. Our Sales staff can provide you with customized quotes for dedicated server hosting, managed services, private networks, server clusters and more.

Can I upgrade to another server later?
DEDICATED4U customers are always able to upgrade to a more powerful dedicated server at a later date. Those on monthly plans can pay the difference in the setup fee and the higher monthly fee. Those on annual plans can simply commit to an additional year on the new server, with a credit for the unused portion of their existing server. DEDICATED4U typically gives a 7 day overlap for you to transfer your data from one server to another. Please contact your sales representative for complete details.

Does DEDICATED4U provide a guarantee?
DEDICATED4U has a 100% guaranteed Service Level Agreement. We also fix any hardware problems with your server at no cost to you.

How are you connected to the Internet?
Your server is located in a world-class data center with unparalleled peering and transit connections on redundant fiber loops, with no single point of failure, all operating at less than 50% of capacity.

Do you have battery backups and generators?
Our data center is fully backed up by batteries and diesel generators.

Will I get Super User/Root access?
Yes, root access is what we sell. We wouldn't sell anything less (and you shouldn't have to settle for anything less). You can put as many domains, customers and applications on your server as you want.

Is bandwidth limited?
No, we don't restrict bandwidth but we do measure your monthly transfer in GB. Every DEDICATED4U package includes a very generous allocation of bandwidth per month, and all of our servers have 100Mbps ethernet connections. All bandwidth usage over the allocated amount for your server package is automatically charged at the rate of $0.4 per GB. Optional dedicated bandwidth packages (Mbps circuits) are available for intensive bandwidth usage.

Do you provide a guarantee or SLA?
DEDICATED4U strives to maintain a 99.999% network uptime service level. As normal in the dedicated hosting business, we can only guarantee our overall network and not each individual server. Since all of our customers have full root access, the uptime of individual servers is out of our control. We will, of course, do everything in our power to keep your server online. This uptime percentage is a monthly figure, and does not include any scheduled hardware/software upgrades, or "Acts of God". Our definition of "Act of God" includes; fire, flood, tornado, earthquake, telco fiber issues (e.g. Level3T cutting a fiber line somewhere), as well as network floods, hacks, and attacks.

What if the hardware fails?
DEDICATED4U stocks a high number of replacement parts.In case of hardware failure we will either replace the complete server or exchange the broken parts. This all takes place within a matter of a few hours - not days - as with many other providers.

How many IP addresses do I get?
Each server comes with 1 IP included, you can order up to 7 additional IPs through your Powerpanel for a $1.00 monthly fee per address. There is no setup fee for additional IPs. Please use name-based hosting for all of your Websites instead of individual IP addresses because there is no difference in performance and this economizes IPs. In you require more than 8 IP adresses you must justify per ARIN guidelines. Legitimate justification of IP addresses include SSL certificates, running nameservers, and other specialized applications that require IP addresses. Unacceptable IP justifications include Reverse DNS mappings for IRC vhosts and IP-based Web hosting.

Does DEDICATED4U provide support?
Yes! We provide FREE 24/7 live support with our PowerTicket system. We also have plenty of information and resources available online. Please note that you are expected to maintain your server and any software you wish to run on your server. Any hardware or network issues will be proactively attended to as well.

What about backups?
We recommend you back up your critical data over the Internet to another machine. Your use of the service is at your sole risk. DEDICATED4U is not responsible for files and data residing on your account. You agree to take full responsibility for files and data transferred and to maintain all appropriate backup of files and data stored on DEDICATED4U servers.

What if I need to re-boot my machine?
No problem. With our award-winning PowerReboot feature, you can remotely soft and hard reboot your server at any time. Just submit the reboot request in your online customer interface and your server will be rebooted immediately.

What types of applications can I run on my server?
You can run any type of applications on your server that you wish, provided that it does not violate any of our Terms and Policies. Many of our customers are hosting Websites, databases, chat and game servers, etc.

What if my server gets hacked or attacked?
Since you have full root access to your server, server security is your responsibility. We cannot be held liable in any way if your server gets hacked. Hackers usually go after a server just to say, "they did", or to use the server to bounce off of to hack something more important. Rarely are any users' files on the server damaged, erased, or modified. For this reason, once a hacker is detected, a server can usually be cleaned up and the hacker locked back out within a matter of hours. The most economical way to clean your server would be to back up all important data and reinstall your server using the PowerRestore feature.

Are other operating systems available?
Other Linux based OS are always possible to install via the PowerRecovery option. Our PowverRecovery system lets you restore your server settings, backups, and compile and install new software, including an Operating System. You have full flexibility to install any software you choose, and it's so easy you can do it yourself. Without the need for tech support. We are expanding rapidly the number of operating systems we provide and we are working hard to keep our services up to date.

Will my server have a Web-based control panel?
All servers will have your choice of Plesk or Ensim control panel software. Both are Web-based programs that allow for point-and-click administration to add domains, mail, FTP, DNS and perform other administration, all through a Web-based interface.

Do you install a full version of control panel software?
Yes, we do install a full version of the latest control panel software. Unlike other providers that only install a very limited or outdated test version, we install your choice of Plesk 8 (100 domains) and Ensim Basic FREE!

What is your policy on bandwidth?
We do not cap or restrict your bandwidth. Your traffic may burst to as much as the server requires. Each server comes with minimum 500GB of data transfer per month. If you need more, simply contact our Sales Team for an individual offer or upgrade to a more powerfull server.

How is bandwidth measured?
Bandwidth is measured at three points in our network for the highest accuracy and redundancy. We use our patented TrafficProbe system to analyze the complete traffic flow in our data center and provide you the most accurate billing in the industry. In addition, we monitor all switch ports for bandwidth usage.

What software is included with the servers?
The servers come with a standard Linux or Windows installation optimized by our system engineers for the best speed and stability. Some of the control panel software only supports certain versions of Linux or Windows at this time. Each server will include Apache Sendmail, Bind, Perl, PHP and MySql. (Plesk uses Q-mail instead of Sendmail.) You will have root control with full Telnet and FTP access. SSH and SSL come enabled on the control with full access. SSH (RDP on Windows) and SSL come enabled on the servers as well. All software depends upon which server you purchase.

What are the common software applications available with your servers?
What are they for?
Linux:
The Linux servers have Apache, Sendmail, Bind, Perl, PHP and MySQL pre-installed. Apache is the Web serving software of Linux; Sendmail is the server's mail software. Sendmail allows you to set up mail accounts, forward mail and can add as many accounts as you like. Bind is the server's DNS or Name Servers software. Perl is a standard scripting language that allows you to program CGIs and system administration scripts.PHP is the industry standard language for creating dynamic websites offering unlimited possibilities for the webmaster and a stunning experience for the visitor.
Windows:
Windows 2003 Server comes in 2 flavors, either as Web Edition or Standard Edition. Both Versions include IIS, ASP, .NET, Mail, FTP, etc. The Standard Edition also supports MS-SQL which is not provided by DEDICATED4U at this time.

Will DEDICATED4U install SSL (Secure Socket Layer) on my server?
SSL comes enabled by default on all of our servers. You must provide the certificate; SSL (Secure Socket Layer) is required for secure transactions over the Web. You may secure a single domain using one certificate (e.g. yoursecuredomain.com) and then create directories to provide individual secure pages for your customers (e.g. yoursecuredomain.com/user1).

Do you offer server restore?
Yes, we do offer instant server restore with our award-winning PowerRestore feature. Get your server back up and running within minutes.

Do you offer a recovery system?
Yes, we offer PowerRecovery, a patented system that gives you total access to all resources of your server - even if it has been misconfigured and is no longer accessible through the public Internet. Just log into your server, fix the problem, and get back online within minutes.

Which control panel would you suggest?
